In the Simpsons season 5 episode titled "Cape Feare", Sideshow Bob was in jail, sending Bart Simpson threatening letters that read "Die Bart Die." Bob told the parole board the letters were German for "The Bart The." The parole board believed Bob, and he was paroled. Sideshow Bob immediately went after Bart in an episode that spoofed the 1962 film Cape Fear and its 1991 remake.
